The Caribbean is a group of islands more than 3,200 kms (2,000 miles) long separating the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean Sea.
The climate of the area is tropical but rainfall varies with elevation, size and water currents. The region enjoys year-round sunshine divided into 'dry' and 'wet' seasons, with the last six months of the year being wetter than the first half.
