Meet Cici, Dunia Baru's Newest Family Member

Dunia Baru has assembled a world-class team both on board and off. The latest addition to our shoreside team is Cici Armayn, our new Operations Director.

Cici's knowledge of Indonesia's wooden boats – phinisis – is second to none and she brings with her a wealth of nautical experience. A trained naval architect and marine engineer, she co-owned and ran one of Indonesia's most respected liveaboard boats, Seahorse, for 12 years. Alongside operating Seahorse, she also worked simultaneously on many other boat building projects – primarily wooden boats – as a project manager and consultant, including Ikan Gurami, one of Indonesia's original luxury phinisis and preferred superyacht for the Amanwana resort in Komodo. She is one of the founders of the Indonesia Liveaboard Association, where she is currently the secretary, and she is in the midst of training to be a certified marine surveyor.

"I am so excited to join the Dunia Baru team," says Cici. "She is one of, if not the best wooden boat ever built in Indonesia. A person I highly respect once told me that perfection is in the details and the attention to detail in all aspects of Dunia Baru is unparalleled. The vision required to build a yacht like this is exceptional and I am so lucky to join a team with such vision at its heart."

Born and bred in Indonesia, Cici's extensive experience cruising the waters of this incredible country will be invaluable in helping craft unique itineraries for guests, incorporating the best hidden anchorages and experiences. As well as being Dunia Baru's operations director, Cici will support crew training, lead Dunia Baru's social responsibility efforts and be our Designated Person Ashore, or DPA. The DPA is the lynchpin between the superyacht and shoreside operations, especially designated to ensure a reliable connection with the crew and to supervise the safe operation of the yacht.

Cici will split her time between Bali and outside Indonesia, working alongside her long-time colleague Chandra who has been working with Cici on her liveaboard projects on and off since 2006. Importantly, Cici has also been key in helping Dunia Baru become the very first wooden boat to be classed by Indonesian classification society, Biro Classification of Indonesia (BKI). Certifying Dunia Baru’s quality, her seaworthiness and her commitment to being the best, this news really puts her in a class of her own. "The addition of Cici to our team is indicative of our continued commitment to making Dunia Baru the best luxury charter yacht in Indonesia," says owner Mark Robba. "We are always looking to raise the bar and offer our guests impeccable service and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Cici will help us do this."

Welcome to the team, Cici!
