Dunia Baru's Raja Ampat Learning Centre Project
We are proud to announce that Dunia Baru is about to embark on an exciting project in one of our favourite cruising grounds, Raja Ampat. The Raja Ampat Learning Centre Project will see Dunia Baru, in cooperation with the regional government, build a new library and eco-education centre in the remote village of Sawandarek.
The architect for the Learning Centre will be Popo Danes, Bali's most renowned architect, who is creating a space for education and community that incorporates local materials, sustainable solutions and solar power. While the environment, conservation and the importance of preserving the unique local habits for the future of Raja Ampat will be taught, it will also be a place where other skills can be learned to help the community strengthen their offerings for tourism.
A meeting between the key stakeholders in the project including government officials, village leaders, DUNIA BARU owner Mark Robba and architect Popo Danes will take place at the site mid-April for final site confirmation and work is set to be complete in November 2018.
