MYBA Charter Show 2017 Summary | Barcelona
A trade-only event, the event attracts some of the most established and respected charter companies and brokers of the industry where they appraise the current Mediterranean based charter fleet. With 56 of the best superyachts available for charter on display this year, it was no small feat. Fleur Tomlinson gives her comment on what the show means for her.
A show like the MYBA Charter show is very beneficial for the full circle - yachts, brokers and clients. The yachts are on display as they would be for their guests - our clients. It is of utmost importance to me as a broker and organiser of what is often the most important time of the year for families, that everything from the bed sheets to the personality of the crew matches with my client's preferences. It's therefore important to me that I familiarise myself with the vessels on offer, the way the crew operate and experience the yachts first hand as my clients would. This gives me the best opportunity at matching the right yacht with the right client. The day to day appraisal of yachts and meeting the crew during the event along with destination seminars, yacht hops (evening functions) and private lunches on board all add up to a very informative and educational experience putting me in a position to provide the best service possible to the families and groups I'm working with.
Another very important aspect of the show is reconnecting face-to face with other brokers, agents and media in the industry that we work with on such a regular basis from all over the world via phone and email. These personal relationships are important to maintain in order to keep connected across the globe and up to date on whats going on in the varying charter destinations that we work in as well as promoting and updating brokers on the yachts that we represent. The show involves very long days, a lot of km's stomping the docks and a lot of fun!
DISCLAIMER: Personally for me it is impossible to pick favourites when it comes to yachts, my preference depends on a number of different variables such as what kind of charter it will be i.e family or friends, active or all about relaxing. One very important aspect is location, for example if I am chartering in the South Pacific the yacht I would choose would be very different to something that would suit the glamour of the French Riviera. Below I have selected a few of the yachts that stood out at to at the show for one reason or another.
Fleur's 'Stand Out' Picks at the 2017 MYBA Charter Show
70m Feadship M/Y Joy
Launched in 2016, the brand new Feadship took home the award - Best Yacht of the Show. Her unique and bright interior design by new comers Studio Indigo was stand out and the multi purpose basket ball court come football field come sun deck forward was a winner for me. This yacht is all about family and outdoor fun with a unique edge.

60m CRN M/Y Ramble on Rose
RAMBLE ON ROSE is new to the charter market and recently out of a major refit. The crew on board are an excellent multicultural and bi-lingual mix which seems to really gel well together. The recent refit has given the yacht a real beach house sort of a feel with accents of turquoise throughout and an uplifting mix of light woods and textures.
Availability: Summer 2017 - West Mediterranean (Riviera/Corsica/Sardinia/Naples/Sicily).

44m Benetti M/Y Blue Vision
BLUE VISION has just completed a full interior refit and is available for charter in the West Mediterranean including the balearics. What really was stand out for me with this vessel is that the head stewardess on board played a key role working with owners and designers in the interior refit design and materials used. The second stewardess is passionate about creating experiences for guests and on a rainy, cold show day prepared us an incredibly warming an satisfying hot white chocolate cardamon and secret spices recipe that was exactly what we needed. The whole crew came across as thoughtful, caring, creative and involved and this is a perfect combination for a memorable, well thought out charter.

72m Dunya Yachts M/Y Axioma
Axioma with her incredibly unique and impressive atrium style main saloon really stands out among the rest. The saloon blends in to the aft deck seamlessly opening up the entire space complete with infinity swimming pool. This yacht is just like a floating luxury beach house just with so much more to offer. Definitely a stand out pick for me.

64.5m Benetti Silver Angel
Silver Angel can be hard to digest for some with her intense monochrome interior design. But there is something about this overall combination of high gloss dark oak, white onyx, mirrored units and entirely custom built furniture that really, really works. Being on board this yacht is an exciting sensory experience, the decor is one thing but the entire layout is incredibly well thought out. From the beach club complete with optional table tennis set up all the way up the magnificent central staircase to the breathtaking top deck with a beautiful 8 person jacuzzi lined with sun pads and a central elaborate dining space, this yacht has to be experienced to be believed.
